This photo strays a little bit from my usual posts, which have been a little more creative, but I wanted to post it because it shows something I've been learning in class. Today, we learned about bounce flash. Our current assignment focuses on on-camera flash techniques, and for this particular shot, we were assigned to bounce the flash off the white ceiling to create a soft glow in the photo.

This beautiful, lovely necklace was a birthday gift from my best friend, Jerica. She knows me so well. Not to mention, it was accompanied by a letter written in pen and ink. And the stationary was hand watercolored by Miss Jer. Oh, she spoils me. Did I mention she sent it from Chicago? I feel a pen pal coming on.

All winter, my mom has been feeding the birds in various bird feeders strung out all over our back yard. Unfortunately, the blackbirds seem to enjoy an easy meal too. They've bullied all the pretty finches and chickadees out of our yard and now instead of beautiful songbirds, we have cawing bullies.

I'm finally home for spring break and it was kicked off last night by a storm complete with hail and thunder. Mom's Golden Retriever, Tootsie, always finds a way to get completely dirty when it storms.

I bought this pretty necklace at Forever 21 a couple years ago and I looove it. I like the angle of this shot, and how it shows the detail of each charm.

Tonight, Keith, Paige, and I went bowling. Well, Keith and I went bowling and Paige watched.

Tonight was Keith's ROTC Awards Banquet. He received three awards. The ribbons he received tonight are shown here along with his gold German Proficiency Badge which he received last weekend.

With spring just around the corner, I'm in the mood for some color. In other news, it snowed today. But no worries - it's supposed to be in the 70s Wednesday.

My wonderful future mother in law sent Girl Scout cookies back to Pittsburg with Keith and I last weekend. And they are deeelightful. Don't these lemon cookies look yummy?

I know, I know, not the most creative of photos. However, for those of you living in Kansas, or anywhere else where it's just starting to warm up for the spring, this photo (hopefully) evokes some kind of emotion. I think of sun tea as such a yummy spring- and summertime treat. Today, I'm so excited for the warmth.
Also, I think the gray and orange work well together. So there, it's at least a little bit pleasing to the eye.

It was a beautiful seventy degrees today, so Keith and I rode our bikes to the Pittsburg Duck Pond. I got some cool duck and geese photos, and we really enjoyed the spring weather.

I'm loving these shiny, big rings. The color in them makes for a really cool photograph.

We're working on depth of field in my Photography 1 class, so this is one of the photos I took for the assignment. It's a staircase in the Kansas Technology Center. Very industrial, so not really my usual style. I tend to be a little more earthy. But I like all the grays.

I found these so-cute quail at a flea market in Chetopa, Kansas. They're the most adorable salt and pepper shakers I will never use. They'll probably pop up somewhere else in the 365 days.

Going home for the weekend is always too short. This photo was taken on my fiance's family's front porch, where we've spent plenty of that "too short" amount of time relaxing on the porch swing.
I am having so much fun with depth of field.

Tonight, Keith had an awards banquet for ROTC, and I had the Graphics and Imaging Technologies scholarship banquet. It was an incredibly busy day, so I didn't get my regular creative photo, but I wanted to share this picture.

A neighbor here in Pittsburg told me about a "really creepy, cool" cemetery a few miles out of town. Keith and I went to check it out today and I must say, it was not at all creepy. But it was very, very cool. Most of the graves were more than a hundred years old.

Today's photo was taken in my Photography 1 class, using panning. I'm in love with my new trick!

To celebrate the grand reopening of Pittsburg's Tropical Sno (which was actually yesterday, but the line was about 30 people long every time we drove by), Keith and I walked down to the T. Sno shack and got some Piano Men. It's a beautiful thing.

A couple of brass deer my mom got me a few months ago. I collect deer figurines. I took this photo for one of my photography class assignments in one of the school's studios.
